Comments of the jury:

​

- The project is adequately thought through and appears to be realistic in term of feasibility. The idea is based on the understanding that the Syrian culture and community set up is at the basis of planning, while seeking the refugees’ integration in a new country. Nevertheless, the plan encourages isolation of the refugees rather than integration at larger scale. The new settlement is self-sufficient and self-contained.  While the technical details reflect the concept in a pertinent manner, the project description is convoluted and limited. Socio-economic linked to spatial planning are omitted and it seems that the agriculture land/production suffice to the survival scope. The project encourages temporariness rather than durability hence may have relevant cost implications overtime if a maintenance component is not embedded at the very onset.

- Laudable solution to let refugees express their cultural construct of civic life and also embraces constant change as a desirable aspect of urbanism but - the public spaces in the close-up renderings need to be humanized.

​

- The project has some interesting technical ideas but could use more attention to social interactions.
